PRP/PRF Injections

7 days before treatment:
Avoid NSAIDs and anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, naproxen, and aspirin unless prescribed by your medical provider.
Avoid blood-thinning supplements when possible, such as fish oil/omega-3, vitamin E, garlic, ginkgo biloba, turmeric, and similar supplements.
Do not stop any prescribed blood thinner, aspirin, or medication without approval from your prescribing provider.
48 hours before treatment:
Avoid alcohol, as it may increase bruising and affect platelet function.
Drink plenty of water and focus on good hydration.
Avoid excessive caffeine if you are prone to dehydration or lightheadedness with blood draws.
Day of treatment:
Arrive with clean skin and no makeup, lotion, or skincare products on the treatment area. Eat a light meal before your appointment to reduce the chance of feeling lightheaded during your blood draw.
Let your provider know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have an active infection, have a history of bleeding disorders, are immunocompromised, or have had any recent illness. Inform your provider of all medications, supplements, allergies, recent cosmetic treatments, or recent dental work.

For the first 24 hours:
Do not touch, rub, massage, or press on the treated areas unless instructed by your provider. Avoid makeup on or near the treated area.
Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy sweating, saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, and excessive heat. Avoid alcohol.
Keep the treated area clean.
Sleep with your head slightly elevated if you are prone to swelling.
For 3–7 days after treatment:
Continue to avoid NSAIDs and anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, naproxen, and aspirin unless medically necessary or prescribed.
Tylenol/acetaminophen may be used for discomfort if you are able to take it safely.
Avoid harsh skincare products, exfoliants, retinoids, acids, scrubs, and active ingredients around the treated area until the skin feels calm.
Avoid facial massage, gua sha, facial rollers, and other pressure-based treatments.
Avoid dental work, facials, lasers, peels, waxing, or other cosmetic treatments unless cleared by your provider. Bruising & Swelling Tips
Bruising and swelling can occur and are usually temporary.
A cool compress may be used gently for short periods if recommended by your provider. Do not apply heavy pressure.
Arnica may be used if approved by your provider.
Stay well hydrated and avoid excess sodium if you are prone to swelling.
When to Contact the Clinic
Please contact Onyx Aesthetics & Hormone Clinic right away if you experience:
Increasing pain that does not improve, severe or worsening swelling, significant redness, warmth, or drainage, fever or chills, skin discoloration, blistering, or unusual changes to the treated area, any symptoms that feel concerning or abnormal

General Guidelines (3–7 Days Before Treatment)
Avoid excessive sun exposure and do not attend your appointment with sunburned skin. Discontinue the use of retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin), exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), and other irritating skincare products for at least 3–5 days prior.
Avoid waxing, threading, or hair removal creams in the treatment area for 5–7 days before treatment.
Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, or other advanced skincare procedures for at least 1–2 weeks prior.
Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
24–48 Hours Before Treatment
Avoid alcohol and limit caffeine intake.
Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen) unless medically necessary. Do not discontinue prescribed medications without physician approval. Avoid topical products that may increase skin sensitivity.
Day of Treatment
Arrive with clean skin free of makeup, lotions, sunscreen, or skincare products.
Avoid shaving the treatment area the day of the procedure if it may cause irritation. Inform your provider if you have any active skin conditions such as acne breakouts, rashes, infections, or cold sores.
Medical Considerations

Inform your provider if you have a history of keloid scarring or poor wound healing. Inform your provider if you are taking blood thinners, isotretinoin (Accutane), or any prescription medications affecting the skin.

Expect redness, warmth, and mild swelling similar to a sunburn. Do not touch, rub, or pick at the treated area. Avoid applying makeup for at least 24 hours. Use only gentle, provider-approved products. Avoid direct sun exposure and apply sunscreen if going outdoors.
For optimal results, if PRP was added to your treatment, please leave it on your skin for at least 6–8 hours before washing your face.

Cleanse the skin gently with a mild cleanser.
Apply a gentle hyaluronic acid serum and moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated.
Avoid sweating, exercise, saunas, and hot showers.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine if possible.
